21: Vegetarian Chocolates
Jul 25, 2005

I’ve been a vegetarian for a few years now. I can actually blame it on going to Comic-con on my one year anniversary. My wife went to meet Pamelyn Ferdin who was the voice of Fern in the classic cartoon: Charlotte’s Web. Ms. Ferdin didn’t have any Charlotte’s web paraphernalia though, no, she was packing hard core vegan propaganda. My wife read these colorful pamphlets to me on the long drive home from the convention and it really set in, both the health and moral aspects of it. I went totally vegan for about three months and it was about the best I’d ever felt. Its hard to do though and I ended up adding eggs, fish and some dairy products back to the diet. The other hard thing about it is eating at someone’s house, they have to prepare you “special” version of the meal. They ask things like, “you eat chicken right?” And sometimes they feel defensive like you are trying to convert them or are judging their flesh eating ways. I’m not though, I just have enjoyed the benefits of it personally and am sticking with it.

It also doesn’t mean you are healthy. You still might not exercise. And you can still eat a lot of junk food, being most of it does not have meat product in it…

Like chocolate. I love chocolate. I’m a vegetarian and I love chocolate. Hey, don’t you try and draw connections with me and Wally. Don’t you look at me like that!
